Your Inspection
Your inspection by Merit Home Inspectors will help you buy or sell your home with confidence. As trained professionals, we will help you become more knowledgeable about the home.
Resources for Buyers and Sellers
Buyers: You will be made aware of potential problems so you can avoid costly repairs.
Sellers: You will learn about many conditions that a buyer’s inspector may point out, with the opportunity put the property in a better selling condition by making repairs at your convenience.
Our Process
Our professional home inspection gives you an independent and unbiased view of many problems and their solutions, equipping you with the facts you need to make a sound, informed decision.
Depending on the size and condition of the home, a thorough inspection usually takes three to four hours. You are encouraged to accompany your inspector during the assessment so that you will have a better understanding of your written report.
Our inspection report provides a complete and thorough analysis of all the major systems and components in the home. The report, delivered by email the following day, includes a clear description of the problem areas so you can easily identify them. We invite your calls at any time after the inspection to discuss your report.
Inspection Agreement
See our “plain English” inspection agreement, which we encourage you to review and sign before the inspection. We are committed to transparency and clarity.
Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
See the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics that govern Merit Home Inspectors. We invite you to contact us for complete details and to ask any questions.
Inspection Overview
Merit Home Inspectors follows the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) comprehensive Standards of Practice, as well as the Standards of Practice established by Virginia. These Standards outline what is evaluated and what is not evaluated in your inspection. We will perform an exhaustive, non-invasive evaluation of a residential property, inspecting most visible and readily accessible components.
